Welcome
Welcome to ClydeMaritime – a one-stop resource for all Clyde-based shipping news.
On our site you will find shipping movements – arrivals and departures – for vessels on the Clyde, and now including the proposed list of Cruise Ship visits for 2023.
We have a section for historical reference material, which includes sections on all known Puffers and Vics, and information on the ‘X’ Lighters which was previously available on the Riversea International website. There is also a section of Shipbreaking records from the West of Scotland Shipbreaking Yard at Troon compiled by the late Angus Mac Kinnon. The excellent Clydeships database run by the Caledonian Maritime Research Trust – www.clydeships.co.uk now contains records of all shipbuilding in Scotland and is constantly updated. Please refer any research queries directly to them, or by posting your query on our forum (details below).
The ClydeMaritime forum contains news and photos not just from the Clyde, but from around the world. Please click the forum link at the top of this page, or type clydemaritimeforums.co.uk into your browser’s address bar. Anyone can view the forum, but only registered users can add postings. The forum is now run via Tapatalk Groups (which has optional paid membership upgrades) and which also has a supporting mobile app for smartphones.
Please note that despite the similar names, unfortunately I’ve got no connection with the Clyde Maritime Trust which owns and runs the tall ship, Glenlee. It is a separate organisation – their website is: https://thetallship.com/ Likewise, we have no connection with Clyde Marine Training or Recruitment.
