Built by R. Ropner of Stockton for the Pool Shipping Company, West Hartlepool, as their Yard No. 454. Managers – Sir R. Ropner & Company Limited, West Hartlepool.
On 16/12/1915 whilst on a passage from New York to Rotterdam with general cargo, Levenpool struck a mine laid down by an unknown U-boat, in a position about 2 miles N x E of the Kentish Rock Lightvessel, off the Thames Estuary. Beached the following day on the Mucking Flats in the Canvey Island area and subsequently repaired and refloated.
